Interpretive Planning & Visitor Experience Coaching

At Experiential Interpretive Design (EID), we consider ourselves Coaches, not Consultants, and our professional development training approach involves you and your staff, associates, stakeholders, and the community in collaborative decision-making. Our goal is to help increase your capacity to build an experiential interpretive planning framework that will fulfill your site’s mission and goals. We can look at the whole site (BIG Picture) or just a single site component (SMALLer Picture).

Using the BIG Picture lens we can coach you to develop

… a rejuvenation of your mission & outcomes. We’ll revisit your takeaways and verify your visitor experience alignment.

… an interpretive direction for new infrastructure. We’ll work with you to design an experiential blueprint/interpretive plan for visitor engagement.

a visitor journey makeover suggesting ways to build anticipation & maximize impact. We’ll analyze visitor flow from site approach, to the on-site visit, to departure.

… a strong interpretive site presence. We’ll review the entrance, welcoming strategies, visitor orientation & site experiences together.

Using the SMALLer Picture lens, you can let us know if

… there is a weak link in the site’s interpretive plan. We’ll act as your sounding board and idea stimulator to generate potential solutions.

one aspect of the site (trail, exhibit, etc.) is in plateau mode and needs a shakeup. We’ll suggest strategies to improve visitor excitement and increase community support.

… you want constructive feedback on specific visitor journey experiences. We’ll re-imagine approaches and find ways to engage the whole visitor. (Head, Heart, Hands, & Hunger)
